In order to facilitate the vulnerable community, Child Protection Unit Peshawar (with the financial and technical support of Save the Children) has developed a referral service directory for District Peshawar. In order to distribute copies of the Service Directory among secretaries of 92 union council of district Peshawar, a ceremony was held in the office of Deputy Commissioner Peshawar. Mr. Faiz Ullah Assistant Director Local Government was chief guest of the ceremony. Mr. Muhammad Ijaz Khan (Deputy Chief, CPWC), Mr, Zafar Ali Khan Assistant Chief CPWC & Miss Naveeda Naz Child Protection Officer, Child Protection Unit Peshawar were also present on the occasion.

The distribution ceremony  was started with the recitation of Holy Quran. Mr. Ijaz Muhammad Khan Deputy Chief, KP CPWC thanked Deputy Commissioner Peshawar for his cooperation and briefed the participants about activities and objectives of Child Protection & Welfare Commission and CPU Peshawar. He requested Assistant Director Local Govt & Rural Development that a circular may be issued to all UC secretaries for having membership in Child Protection Committees (CPC) being established by CPU Peshawar. He also highlighted the importance of birth registration. He added that local government and KP CPWC can work together in order to increase the ratio of birth registration of children.

Miss Naveeda Naz highlighted the importance of referral network and objective of the developing a Service directory for District Peshawar. She briefed the participants on how to get benefit from the service directory. She also requested all the participants to distribute these service directories in the community of their respective Union Councils.

Mr. Faiz Ullah Khan Assistant Director Local Govt & Rural Development appreciated the role of KP CPWC & CPU Peshawar in the field of Child Protection and ensured that Local Govt will provide full support to CPU Peshawar.
At the end, the Chief Guest distributed copies of the directory containing information of organizations, institutions and departments who are providing services to vulnerable community.
